Unity efforts producing positive results: Ebad

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that continuous efforts for unity and solidarity in the province have produced positive results.

"Whenever enemies of country and nation always fail when they try to create chaos", he said while talking to the participants of 92nd National Management Course at Governor House here Wednesday.

The Governor said that if terrorists had found conducive conditions, there would have been great bloodshed after tragedies of Nishtar park, Ashura and Chehlum.

He said that Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen and Inter-faith relations have been strengthened and efforts and contacts in this regard are continuing.

As a result of these efforts, he said, the people do not allow the life in mega city to get disturb by demonstrating unity, patience and tolerance.

He said successes are also being achieved in bridging the urban- rural divide and now the situation was not like that of the past.

Replying a question, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan said that despite nomination by a political party, he maintained the office of Governor as impartial andworth the status and ensured its decorum.

To another query, he said that with the local government system, the people were empowered to the grass root level and problems of 60 years stood solved. The Master Plan of a city like Karachi became possible because of this system, he added.

He pointed out that besides charter of democracy, all the political parties have the devolution of power program in their manifesto.

Citing one example, he said, that supply of water to Baba and Bhit islands of Karachi became possible because of the efforts of City District Government Karachi. "It is a silent revolution and its outcome would prove avert lasting", he remarked.
